Music Video of the Week

My first music video of the week is "Take me to Church" by Hozier (an Irish singer/song-writer). I have chosen this video because I really like the sense of tension and suspense created through the quick cuts and juxtaposition with the calmness of the thugs. I also think the use of black and white emphasises the close ups of the fire, furthermore the darkness represents the main characters' struggle and hardship in life. This is a purely narrative music video and effectively amplifies the lyrics, making the song even more impactful.
